Annual Register by Edmund Burke page 198.


The term is not exclusively "greek" as modern "greeks" would have the world believe. It is also a term used by the Macedonians when they fought the Turk. Now everyone knows. The west gave that one to modern "greece" too.

Patrick Henry, the American orator and patriot, gave a firey sermon of sorts by stating "give me liberty or give me death." This phrase and its variations has probably existed throughtout history.
