I've decided to put up a page based on the account of the the war in Macedonia ca. 1913. The information is official and it comes from the Imperial War Museum in London.

The British, after all, were the power that ejected the Turk according to the designs of the Great Powers at that time. The halfwits from Serbia, Bulgaria and Greece tagged along to carve up the spoils.

You may find this interesting. It certainly puts the lie to the endless Greek stupidity about Macedonia.

Bear in mind that this is written not only by Greece's military ally (more like saviour) but also the most "Philhellenic" nation in Europe. The British don't even acknowledge or "see" the Macedonians. We're lumped in as "Slavs," "Serbs" or "Bulgars".

Where are the "medley of races" the British military and others speak of in Salonika? I guess after a series of ethnic cleansing campaigns, forced assimilations and the endless transplantation of Christians from Asia Minor and the Black Sea, Greece has succeeded in destroying historic Macedonia and creating a new, artificially Greek one.

Its true the british think they are the decendants of the hellenes anyway.

I find it so amusing that a country like Britain can talk baout using a historically appropriate name for its identity like BRITISH.

Also talk about a country full of many different peoples, has anyone been to England lately, but its allright for the British and Greeks to be multiethnic and multi cultural even multi racial.

Has anyne here read Dakins book "The greek struggle for macedonia".

There it is in black and white who we are and how we became greek but he sees nothing wrong with it even applauds the process of killing and renaming.

You realize don't you that if the Greek army used the "Greek style" maps for Macedonia that people like Akritas like to advertise they would have been completely lost. And of course the original Greek war maps from 1913 will never see the light of day. Thank God the British kept their copies.

Things don't really come together when you use our neighbours sources, they are all different, it is like there in the TWILIGHT ZONE. Thanks for that, interesting read, even though they mention that Macedonia is full of Bulgarians, which in terms they mean Slavs, nevertheless it was interesting.

Twilight Zone you say, Agema?
Well it registered with me on a whole new level of understanding. How do I know? It gave me horror-filled nightmares tonight, that I simply had to wake from, over what this must have meant for the people concerned...The sinking, and sickening reality of it all...

Akritovski bre, shouldn't you be looking for your panty hose in your boyfriend mega peders house.

Great thread Maknews. I hope that the world will soon realize what is the truth about 1913 and the scraggly tooth british and deceitful greeks.

Great maps! Thanks very much.

Looking at the "Reference" at the bottom of the map shows such strong Turkish/Macedonian names in a combination/clash of cultures.

I understand that Macedonians suffered under Turkish rule. But how much worse were the Greeks? 500 years under Greek tyranny would have decimated us.

Risto the Great

PS What do the Greeks call Dremiglava?

For me "Dremiglava" is a magical word. What a tragedy it is that the new Greek speakers have destroyed the centuries long history of Aegean Macedonia.

It's not easy to translate. Literally it says "Dremi" (dreamy) "Glava" (head) but it means something more akin to the word "daydream".

It doesn't mean "to dream" it means to be in "some sort of dreamy state." It's like a state of wishful fancy. It's really a magical word.
