There is no greek dialect of Macedonia. Stop kidding yourself. Even the die-hard greeks of Northern greece will tell you they speak the purest form of greek because they have NO dialect. They know quite well that they had no greek language before 100 years.

Its not me but you who are kidding your self. let me tell you that "lerin" is nothing but a small part (5-10%) of the greek macedonia. You can bark untill the 22nd century that greek people and greek language didnt exists in macedonia but you "ll convince nobody. Neither your selves...

Leave aside for a while the "valid" sources of "intellectuals" such as Stefov, Donski etc etc etc and look around. Find out since when our folk songs and popular poems, in our demotic language with our idiomatisms (dialects) exists, and come back.

Stefanos.gr, instead to complain about our views show us the opposite. Im sure you have plenty of documents from roman and bysantium era which show the existence of (BIG) greek population in Macedonia.

I claim that Greeks were mainly in coastial areas! Show us the oposite!

It did exist but it was used by a small minority. It's propagation throughout Macedonia was deliberate and forced. So much of the Greekness of Macedonia is artificial -- even the place names and people's personal names had to be changed to make the place appear Greek.

You're songs notwithstanding -- there is no bigger liar about Macedonia than the Greek government.

Of course the greek language existed in these regions. Children who were after an education often learned in greek schools. A great "greek" under this definition was Misirkov. Turkish and french and ladino were quite dominant as well. Can you speak ladino? It was THE language of Solun.

Here, I will let you in on a little secret. 100 years ago I don't really believe the majority gave a rat's arse about their nationality. They knew their heritage and did not want to fight other people's fights. The fact that names have been changed and people have been tortured has caused the people to have become galvanised and often extreme in their views. You are on the other end of my scale. You may well be a greek and might actually be related to demosthenes, but you were a minority in the region.
