Yes I am joining from Greece.
The relations between Greeks and Macedonians are currently in zero point.
If you want to be a good Greek patriot you will have to use a derogatory term for the Macedonians even if this is not your style, and this doesn't help the bilateral communication.
If you say "Macedonians" you offend the Greeks, and if you say "Skopianos" you offend the Macedonians. And if it is not your style to offend people what will you do? Simply you avoid referring to this case until it clarifies.
And this is mainstream attitude in Greece now.
The morons you meet around the web are a disgraceful but numerous minority who are obsessed by the idea that they are defeated and have become very pathetic. I understand them, their butt hearts.
But they do a lot of trouble.
Leave aside that I believe that they do not act on their own but they are mobilized by church organizations and base clubs of the ruling political party of Greece, and other radical groups.
For some of them at least this is obvious.
If you call a peoples with a name other than their self determination, or at least with a name that they don't like, you are a racist.
If you call a country with a name diffirent than its constitutional name you are again a racist.
So the Greeks will have to make up their mind, whatever their dirty little job might be.
Kalimera Alkiviadi,
Good jod. It is a fact, that prior to 1992 (or better prior to 1988), there was an indeference about who is using the term "macedonia" and "macedonian". Not only in yours but also in my old encyclopaedias as well as in older ones, i have seen in the public library, the federal republic was mentioned as 'macedonia' , its people as 'macedonians' and its language as 'macedonian', regarding "Yugoslavia".
BUT in order to avoid any missguiding impressions and to give to the readers of this forum a more
complete view about what "macedonia" meaned for the greeks at the time, please tell us what the above encyclopaedias are mentioning for the term "macedonia" (ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝΙΑ).
If you are not able to scan again the requested pages, just let us know, how many pages the encyclopaedias are offering to "macedonia" and what they are reffering inside.
a) are they reffering to the "macedonian struggle" (μακεδονικος αγωνας)?
b) are they reffering to the "ellinikotita" of macedonia?
c) are they mentioning P. Melas, Karavaggelis, Strebeniotis, Kottas etc?
Thank you in advance
