I am an old member and some may still remember me, but have been inactive for a while.

I am writing this topic as I am highly interested in the formation of a Macedonian Rugby League team.
This I must admit was kindled by The Macedonian Hockey Rebirth. I would like to congratulate all associated and am very excited to see a game one day, also the jersey looks great.

Now onto RL I was very surprised to find out that Serbia was an active member in Rugby League tournaments including Slavic Cup and European Shield - Western. I did some research on Rugby league and found that the Portugal team "The Portuguese Rugby League Association (PRLA)”. Was only established in 2005 an although not being part of the official RLIF World Rankings. The team have played against notable countries like, Japan, Malta and Fiji.
The team is based in Marrickville, Sydney, Australia; the founder of the PRLA is an Australian born rugby league supporter, who married into a Portuguese family. Further of this information http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portugal_n ... eague_team

1. The reason I write this post, is too find out from Macedonian Australians who are active members of this forum if they believe it would be possible to get a team up and running?

2. If we could gain support of Either Bankstown City / Rockdale (Sydney) in regards to playing field/club support/facilities etc?

3. Support of small businesses (Sponsorship)

4. Supporters (Only 1 Macedonian team) would mean no divisions in the Community.

P.S Sorry if i have written in the wrong section, however i couldn't find the Australian Section.

Tis post has been up for two months and not one reply. I know how you feel. No one bothers if they dont benefit from it.

This is an excellent idea. Have you got any support outside externally from friends, family or anyone else interested to support your idea? Myself, i am a football(soccer) fan through and through, but im always willing to help out a fellow Macedonian who is looking to do something good for the community and sport in general.

To be honest i would struggle to get a hand full of Macedonians who play Rugby League, but ill put that down to our upbringing in other sports and a lack of support in Rugby League. Well, you have one supporter here bro, and ill try and promote your cause where i can.
