My friend Virginia's grandfather was a priest in Drenoveni, he had his tongue cut out for refusing to do the church service in the new Greek language of the Arvanovlach. She always mentions that she never heard her grandfather speak.

My own great grandfather, also a priest, was butchered by Greeks - (they were actually ethnic Vlach assassins, hired and paid by the "Greek" bishop in Bitola) - because he wouldn't give the church service in the new Greek language the Vlach were learning.
