The scene near where a woman on a bicycle was shot and killed in Clearwater late Sunday night.
CLEARWATER, Florida -- On Monday evening, Clearwater police continued to search for whoever was responsible for shooting and killing a woman riding her bicycle a day earlier.
Police say it happened around 11 p.m. near the intersection of Palmetto Street and Fairburn Avenue.
7-year-old Ahlanah Brown says she heard it from inside her home nearby.
"I heard a gun go 'boom' and then I looked out the window and I saw an ambulance, and then I saw a girl on the ground," she said, "I was scared to go to sleep, so I didn't go to sleep."
Police only describe the victim as in her 30's. They didn't release her name Monday, because they were still trying to locate and notify her family.
Detectives say they aren't sure if she was targeted or if the murder was random.
"Her bike was on top of her and she was just, like, folded up in the road," said Eric Townsend, who also lives nearby.
Police also haven't released any information on possible suspects and several neighbors told 10 News they didn't have much information either.
"I would be scared to go outside," Ahlanah said of the neighborhood until the killer is caught.
Anyone with information can call Clearwater police at (727) 562-4422.
