Here are my photos from Macedonia that I took in August 2008
Kale Fortress, Skopje, the Gov should spend some money on cleaning it up, could be a really nice spot.

Gotta love the Macedonian hamburger with chips (This one gave my wife food poisioning, tasted good though, just make sure they are cooked fresh, this one had been sitting there for who knows how long)
Image
Macedonian parliament house, it would have been good if they had a sign, I only figured it out from the tourist map.
Image
Nice new building in the Makedonija Ulitsa (Centre of Skopje)
Image
Street view of Makedonija Ulitsa, very trendy with nice bars and cafes, leades to Makedonija Square and the Kamen Most.
Image
Skopje Museum, it would have been good to visit but it was closed the two days we were in Skopje
Image
Skopsko pivo with a pizza, it was a very nice italian restuarant in Skopje, good prices as well
Image
Korzo, Bitola. Gotta love the night life, this street is packed at night.

Chesma in Egri, this is mineral water, tastes just like flat Pelisterka

McDonald's in Ohrid, they don't sell chips, but they sell toast. I only tried it once, the Macedonian's make a better hamburger than McDonalds.

Thanks Mlade, also thanks for your help on posting images. Yeah I found most of the scenery that I saw in Macedonia that I visited as being very beautiful and you can see why most of our neighbours want our land. Dragozani has some very nice scenery, is 12 km from Bitola and yet the young people leave the selo in droves. I think that when the economy gets stronger people will rush back into places like Dragozani.

I was in Macedonia back in July-August 2003, summertime there, it was my first trip and i loved it but i only spent 6 weeks should have stayed longer. I remember going to Dragozani once, correct me if i'm wrong but i think it's like the next village from Sekirani.

Sorry Sekirani, haven't visited my post for a while, yeah Dragozani is right next to Sekirani. I have never visited Sekirani but from what I've been told its similar to Dragozani.

Yeah Macedonia is a great place, if only people made some money it would be better for the locals as well.

I have a lot of relatives in Vranishta, and Lozani. Did you go to Alegro, or Enigma while you were there?

If u had been in Lozani 10 years ago, you would have been singing a different tune. Unfortunately most, if not all of the mladi have moved to Struga (in the actual city). But the girls in Vranishta are better than Lozani. :smoke

Yeah Vransiata was a great selo, my mate from Australias mum is from there, while we were in Macedonia we spent a week there. it's a massive selo, as we arrived we asked so people if they new my mate or his family, they didn't. Just shows how large a selo it is.

From what I could see the people seem a lot better off than the people from Bitola, don't know why, but I assume it's the flow on effect of tourism.

Yeah we were at Elegro every night, was a great place, if every selo was a bit like Vransta, Macedonia would be an even better place than it already is.

It's not that they are well off, but that they are self sufficient. Everything they need in that village is within arms length, and the villagers are so diversified in trades and talents, that no chore is left undone.

What was your friends moms last name?

Don't know his mum's surname, but his grand parents have a house in the old part of the selo, near the one of the Churches and near that old large abandoned store.

I found people were more positive in Struga than in Bitola, everyone is negative in Bitola about their future.
