I do have to admit in this modern age it is hard to seperate orthodoxy from the word slav. You immediately think slav and then eastern orthodox pops into your mind. I can see what dimko is trying to say.

slavs are first spoken about 5th cnetury ad. christianity divides in the 12th century. this is a very sad thread trying to prove poles croats slovenians some ukraianians slovaks chechs wends sorbs etc is nonsense dimko razbudi se.

mladenovski can you stop seeing the world just from your eyes for one minute, and imagine how ridiculous your statement sounds to a person from all the above countries. most unlike many macedonians are actually proud to be slavs but here we have macedonians telling them they are not slavs because they are not orthodox.

There is something fishy here that i can not understand. The language was turned from latin into koine arround 6-7 century, i don't remember exactly(E-Roman Empire). If slavs are mentioned in the 5th century, under Sclav~~~~

Why was PERSEUS titled as SCLAVUS(slave) when he was chained in Rome? May someone has proper explanation, or it is me that does not understand some things here? :P

Cekaj malce decki. Dont jump the gun too early. Just becasue I said it seems like it doesnt mean it is. All I said is that I can see where Dimko comes from. Dont interpret it as some kind of a slur against non-orthodox Slavs.

See this is the beauty of what the good druze Tito said. He said that we are all the same people that have been divided by religion.

Mladenovski, when you say Slovan (Slav in Slovak) to a Slovak the first thing to come to his/her mind are Slovaks and Czechs. Other Western Slavs perhaps as well. But to the South and the East are the Primitive/Black Orthodox Barbarians with whom we want nothing to do with.

So you see, it is all a matter of perception. 8)

me too zrinski and i didnt even live there long enough to ever feel yugo.

i was speaking about this very thing with a dalmatinets friend of mine a few days ago and we both agreed the breakup will in the long run improve our understanding and appreciation of each other as somehow related but unique peoples.

The culture in Yugoslavia before the breakup was wonderful. There was a real camraderie among the different groups, it was very modern and progressive. Perhaps it will be again one day.
