How often do you tell people in Greece "I'M MACEDONIAN" unless they ask from what region? Funny everyone I ask says "I'M GREEK".

What's wrong if a Greek speaker of Arvanite or Vlach heritage says they are Greek of Arvanite or Vlach heritage? Why are people in Greece so self-loathing that they can't even do something as simple as this?

Why do the Macedonians in Greece refer to their cousins and uncles and aunts in Macedonia as "Serbs" and "Slavs"? Who taught these people to be so stupid that they don't even know the heritage of their own blood relatives?

If we are ethnic Macedonians it is because we have been living continuously in Macedonia for the last 1500 years. You can't say the same thing about the prosfyges who have only been in Macedonia for 80 years or less.

I acknowledge that the prosfyges and their offspring have acquired a Greek national identity, but I don't for a second accept the nonsensical history that the Greek government attributes to these new immigrants.

They should be doing that because it tells us they are ashamed of something they are, which is very sad.

I had someone within the last few months ADMIT "YES I'M A PROSFYGA" I knew all along but he would NEVER say the words before.

Exactly, RMK, they don't profess their ethnic heritage honestly because they are too 'ashamed' to admit they are of Vlach or Arvanite heritage. That's what the bullshit 'Hellenism' is all about, it has taught them to be self-loathing. When Pangalos went on television to deny his Albanian heritage I thought to myself there is the perfect example of today's modern Greeks.

The same is now true of the grkomani, who like to refer to their own blood relatives as 'skopianoi' and 'Slavs' and to themselves as the 'Greek descendants of Alexander the Great'. That's a pretty amazing feat for people who have the same grandparents.

Lubi, most arvanites i know and all the vlachs i know, are proud for their arvanite or vlach heritage. They elders also use to sing and dance their folklor songs. The key is that they do not accept that being arvanite or vlach, is something that differentiates you ethnically. Of course the pontians are very proud as well for their pontian origin and they got mad if you claim they are n't ethnic greeks being pontians.

Of course you enough greek to know that prosfygas means refuge. Being refuge makes you a no-ethnic greek?

Living abroad you will be very often questioned of what's your ethnicity, where are you from, whats your origin etc. Living in your own country you may wont be questioned for years.
Anyway, i never heard anyone to say "i am macedonian" or "greek macedonian". When a greek asks another one where is he from he means which part of the country.
"Kritikos ise re? Kala to katalava". (r u a cretan. i knew it)
"Peloponisios e? Hamutzis?"
or you can hear "Pontios ise?" (r u pontian)

Stefanos, I don't want to belabour this, but a Vlach, an Arvanite and a Macedonian are not ethnic Greeks. They each belong to a different ethnic group. They can certainly be Greek citizens and have a Greek national identity, but ethnically they are not Greek.

No, I mean that anybody in the Balkans has a mixed blood. And in my opinion, there is very small racial difference between Bulgarians and Macedonians. Between Serbians and Macedonians, much more. Between Macedonians and Greeks much more.

But ALL are mixed.
