what is your ethnicity? (how do u feel)

my 2nd question is, where did u live @ the moment ?

my 3rd question, ur english is very good, how it comes ?

I feel both Greek and Macedonian. So I can understand both sides' allegations in this whole naming dispute.
When I talk to friends, family or comrades I always tell "Μακεδονία" when I refer to the country, "Μακεδόνικα" or "Μακεδονίτικα" to the language and "Mακεδόνες" to the people.
When I talk to to Greek nationalists I refer to RoM as "ΠΓΔ Μακεδονίας". Ι always give "Μακεδονίας" a full writing. I refer to the language and the language as Slav-Macedonian or just Macedonian(rarely). You have to notice that nationalists are reducing dramatically in numbers after 1996. There are also just a few dozen morons like the "Pan Macedonian" one's here in Greece.
Here you can find a picture of their latest demonstration in Athens. They were no more than 200 people.
It's just how I've learned to tell by the mass media. It's also not that safe to refer to RoM as Macedonia in public here in Greece. Or at least there's a fear about it.
I Live in Thessaloniki/Solun/Selanik. I call the city Thessaloniki or simply Saloniki as I always have to deal with Greeks. I'm used to call it like this.
(I'm also used to say Leningrad and not St. Petersburg, Stalingrad and not Volgograd 8) )
As for my English I've learned them in a private school here in Greece up to a good level. I'm supposed to have efficiency to teach here in Greece. But I don't.

Thanks for your efforts to help guys

Why is it exactly you feel half Greek? Are both your parents Macedonian?

And are you a member of a Greek nationalist forum?

stefanos.gr: do you think Greek nationalists don't read this website? Search google my friend for 'maknews' and see what comes up.

Who are these "men in black" actually?
I don't think I'll have any problem with the Greek authorities just for writing in a public internet forum. 8)

I wrote Greek nationalist in a Greek Forum and not Greek natioanalist in a Greek nationalist forum.
No hard feelings though. Right?

Sorry to go off topic a bit but just out of curiosity, does anyone else celebrate or have a similar tradition to what Suhin and Myself do on Vasilitsa? (Whatever name you might call it?) as most of the Nashi I know that aren't from my area don't do anything like this.

we used to have babari in Bitola, I think they used to represent the passed present and future. Is kolede celebrated in Canada?

mate they still do babari in Sydney.. They also do it up in the Lerin Region in Greece, inconspicuously called Mpamparos... haha

I think we should try and teach Suhin, and Vodenka if she wants, how to speak some Macedonian.

We could take it slow and easy and the Greek posters can translate for him as necessary.

Sho praish, Suhin, aren si? [How are you, Suhin, is everything OK?]

Bit by bit he can get used to our different dialects.

Suhin, I found your village on an old map. You are literally on top of Solun and the Halkidiki.

Yep here it is http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/digkonyv/topo/200e/41-41.jpg
in the right part, above 'Langaza see'

Good find, Dejanche -- do you know what year that map is?

Suhin is very close to the Belo More (White Sea = Aegean)

Suhin, using the term Greek Macedonia I think does not do your ethnic roots justice. Aegean or egejska makedonija i think is more appropriate

Egec, or Aegean Macedonian is a post 1913 term. Before that we did not use the term because we were not divided.

In the old language Suhin would be a Macedonian from Belomorskio del (White Sea part = Aegean part)

We call the Aegean the "White Sea" (Belo More) to contrast it with the "Black Sea" (Tsrno More).

I got it from this site and if you just hover your mouse above Szaloniki, it says 1912, so i guess just a year before the Greek state then, would rename it.

I like how we call it the white sea :)

Superb map, Dejanche!

Everything before 1913 is our history, everything after 1913 is there history. They changed all the place names to make the area look Greek. That is the artificial basis of today's 'Greekness'.

Here is Pelagonia, I know most of these villages.

There lies the difference between us and them, our villages and towns still have the same names as they did a mere 100 years ago :)

Venom, of course some greek nationalists and anyone else are reading this web-site. Would you bet your ass, that the greek authorities are watching and tracing the IP adresses and send the "men in black" to arrest people like "Suhin"?

See what your stupid propaganda can cause to naive guys like "dimko-piperkata"!!!

I tell you what i have done the last 2 years while i am trying also to expand my knowledge on the Macedonian language.
A. I have purchased this Greek - Macedonian dictionary on a journey at Stip, summer 2006.
It is very useful. I proposes you to buy it (about 12 euro).

I got this book. It is useful only as a dictionary, but nothing further because it is made for macedonian speakers to learn greek and not vice-versa. All the grammar written in the midle pages, between greek-mak and mak-greek dictionaries is in macedonian explaining the greek grammar. Not vice-versa. Not to mention the houndreds of mistakes regarding greek words and sentances. But this book is the best up to now, i have seen and i got others much worse.
