My friend Kocho and I did a little recording so you could hear how we speak. My voice is a bit weak (cough, cough) but it came out okay. We didn't rehearse this and we ramble, so just consider this a test.

That recording was great maknews  I loved Kocho's tiny, teencie-weencie Canadian accent, especially when he said "paRi, LeRin, and Rabota" :D
I don't think I heard though the "shch" combination instead of "sht" in that recording. eg: nishcho, ushche, kuchishcha, dechishcha, etc. It's Ok, I used the word "shchemba" in my recording as an example.
Za site shto velat "sht", probaj da velite "dechishcha - boys/children" pet pati mnogu brzo. Dobra vezhba e za jazikot :tongue

Wow, I'm surprised you actually noticed that ever-so-faint pronunciation of the rs. That's the Toronto dialect. :razz

I don't know about Kocho, but we can't say "sht" it's like a foreign language to us. We only say "shch". I'll try and put a few words together.

This was a random thing, we just wanted to see if it would work.

We are all from Pelagonia we talk the same except for some little differences.

da be znam. It sounds weird how Kocho uses "beshe" instead of "bef" like yaska beshe vo Lerin, where we say yaska bef vo Lerin. I heard that some of the eastern Macedonians use that, but didn't know that they used it in egejska.

The Bufski sample is excellent. Lets upload some more. Maybe some old folks telling stories, or singing old songs, or just talking about their youth in Aegean Macedonia...

We speak practically the same as you Maknews. The only exception of the "shch" words is the word "G'rchki". We say G'rtski and G'rtsi. We drop a lot of consonants as well and replace them with a "Y/J":
"Kaj ojsh" instead of "Kade odish", "Ke grejsh ti?" instead of "ke gredish" and "Sho prajsh" instead of "shto pravish" for example. The letters "V" and "D" are omitted as well in certain words:
Ubav
Uba
Ubao
Ubai

Suv
Sua
Suo
Sui

Nedela = Nela, glava = gla, and most importantly: the letter "t" is never pronounced at the end of a noun as you already know - stiso - the wall, grado, lebo, molivo, and meo (literary MK = mevot).
*Nema gajle sho me vikna "Buf dete". Mislam deka ti si malce postar od mene. Ne ke ti kazham kolku godini imam, ama sum postar od "Stefche" Stamkos i pomlad (odvaj) od Ed Jovanovski :)

We do talk the same way - as we should. My dedo was from Bouf and a nice chunk of my village are Bufchani and Rakovtsi (the good kind).

You're right about g'rtski vs g'rchki. We should all say g'rtski but the "edumacation" system in Vardaria changed it to g'rchki. Can you imagine if we also said Turchki.

Like you we say d'rzha instead of d'rzhava, s'ntse instead of solntse, Ne'ela instead of Nedela and we never ruin a word by putting a "t" at the end of it.

BTW, I'm 49 years old, so that makes you my grandson.

I am glad you liked it. When I have time, I will do another with a comparison of Literary Macedonian compared to the Bufski dialect. My relatives inadvertently use a lot of English words, since they have lived in Canada for over 30 years. "oti ne fona ti - why didn't you call", "ke odam vo karo - I am going in the car" for example.

We utilize the short "u" "ъ" instead of "ol". V'k, zh'to, etc.
I forgot to mention that we don't pronounce the letter "g" for the words "go and gi". "I najdu chelite - Gi najdov chevlite". "Toj o izede mesoto".
Maybe I could be a nephew to you, but I don't think a grandson. I am bald and my knees make a cracking sound when I straighten my legs - Star dedo sum jas :D

Don't worry about balding, we'll just steal some hair from Alek, he's pulling it out anyway. As for a creaking knee, nothing some oil won't fix.

Most important thing is we have the best dialect.
