This is text is a New Testament translation into Macedonian language, dialect of Lower Vardar, area between Voden (gr.Έδεσσα), Kukush (gr.Κιλκίς), Solun (gr.Θεσσαλονίκη) and Ber (gr.Βέροιαc)from the end of the 18 century. The manuscript was lost for more than 100 years, and was rediscovered by Finnish historian and philologist Mika Hakkarainen in 2003 in the library of the Greek-Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria. Jouko Lindstedt identified it as the so called “Konikovo Evangelie” and transliterated it.

It sounds Vodenski, because it is vodenski. :-)

Actually, scientists are not sure if this text was written in one dialect only. The text shows some elements of the western Macedonian dialects too (the lack of elision of the vowels, for example), so they believe that this may actually be the earliest attempt to create one standard language for all Macedonians.

I'm native of Strumica and Strumica dialect is bordering with the Lower Vardar dialect (spoken also in Gevgelija, Dojran and Valandovo).

You're not too far from Voden.
