Hello Jill,

First of all welcome to the forum. I am very glad that you found this forum and that you have decided to participate on it. I am also very happy about creating this thread because I guess it has brought you here.

I want to congratulate you and thank you for filming "Next Year in Lerin", it is fantastic and your work means so much to so many of us!

I do have a question for you though: How did you hear about the plight of the Macedonians and what drove you to making this movie? I would love hear your story about how it all came about.

Once again, congratulations on your fantastic work and many thanks for the same!

Regards,

Rogi

A lot of my films are about exile and how the idea of the 'homeland' takes on a kind of mythic emotion to the people exiled and their descendants.

I have a great friend and he was the French cultural attache in Skopje just after Macedonia became independent. I visited him and he told me about this story which he knew would interest me after we heard something about it on the BBC World Service. He introduced me to a guy called 'Krash' who became my guide to the story and to all the people who eventually came to be in the film. Then I had to raise the money which took a while :wall , but I eventually got a grant from the Soros Foundation to do the research and it went on from there.....

I'm not surprised that they tried to take your camera, My father who was a political refugee from Aegean Macedonia had his camera confiscated upon entry into Aegean Macedonia, he was told he would get it back upon his departure, this is how they treat Macedonians entering their own land.

1) Macedonians belong to the "older" Mediterranean substratum...
2) Macedonians are not related with geographically close Greeks, who do not belong to the "older" Mediterranenan substratum...

Greece must be held accountable for the many years of human rights violations within their borders in an international court of law.

Justice for all.

Nice work Jill, I recently ordered a copy myself and am waiting on its arrival. Any plans to do some other projects on Macedonia?

Welcome back Jill

“Hidden Agenda”

A true story about the Greek Orthodox Churchs hidden agenda to systematically ethnically cleanse an entire population of human beings, Macedonians, without any external intervention after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire in 1912.

The Greek Civil War 1946-49 was planned and funded by the Communist Party of Athens not ethnic Macedonians. In Greece the church is the government. A democracy? Hardly, the real words that best describes that republic would be hypocrisy and paranoia.

Alex

PS The same applies in Bulgaria and Albania

Full length motion pictures are very costly unless your name is Tom or Rita and can pull something like this off at minimal cost .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2dX9KhWyQQ

If I was in charge of the Lerin Region in Toronto I know what I would be doing.

I heard that there is a court case going on now to reclaim Macedonian properties taken by the Greeks....I thought my film could help in some way...does anyone know either who the Macedonian ambassador is in London where I'm based, or where I could send the film to help...it contains interviews with people who lost their homes.....or just information on the case....

:question

Yes I could do with the path pointing out a bit to get the film into the right hands....I've got the contact details of the UK ambassador but not sure what to say to her, especially since I don't know her...so wherever I can send it, I will very willingly....suggestions please!!
