You say it is "just fine", but to me it is not - for me it seems to have been 'Serbianised'. Was the 'J' used in the day of Goce Delchev ? When did we start using the 'J' does any body know?

I'm sure there are better things to discuss than changing the name of our country.

here's who & when
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bla%C5%BEe_Koneski

neither the bulgars or the serbs created any alphabets, so Macedonian never used a "bulgarian alphabet" nor "serbified their alphabet in SFRJ" Cyrillic was created by the monks who followed Sts Cyril & Methodius using Latin, Greek (originally Phoenician), and little Glagolica.

maybe we should use the original alphabet Sts Cyril & Methodius created.....

What that be a "pure" alphabet we could use, Poet?

"JA" and "Я" spell the same sound. When modern Macedonian was codified in 1940 & 1950s by Koneski et al they decided to simplify the spelling system (the mk population around WW2 was mainly rural and illiterate)

Bulgars like to say Macedonian is a bulgar dialect with "Serbian" spelling. So I can't tell if your naive or pushing a hidden agenda with this topic

I am neither, naive or pushing a hidden agenda. It seems to me our name was changed once before to make it sound more 'Yugoslav', I, as many of my Aegean family and friends have always pronounced it Makedon'IA' not Makedoni'JA'. For the Record i am a Pure Aegean Macedonian, not a Macedonijan. I say lets RID ourselves of the Yugoslav shackles. Many may ridicule me for my belief that the 'J' makes us sound SERBIAN! but that's the way I feel, Sorry if I offend you.

i think that the я ь й ю ъ э & щ letters are Bulgar and we should keep it OUT of Macedonian.

By the way poet, our grandfathers already had this argument before us ie "what's serbian or what's bulgarian". Why don't we learn to accept others interpretations of the "pure" macedonian and move on?

Things not resolved 'Linger' for a long time, must resolve to move on to next issue. Yet i know this issue, De-Yugo-slaving our language may never happen.

Poet why do you care so much about J, worry about the flag and the name issue that we have with greece. Or the Albanian problem

Your right we do have other issues. The flag is fine for me, it represents Macedonia. The albanian situation should be simple, but other nations prevent our people solving this problem. One thing that should be done is, all albanians must be asked to become citizens of Macedonia and sign a declaration of allegiance to Macedonia,IF THEY REFUSE, DEPORT THEM, send them to albania.

No i did not vote for it, did not know we could. The current flag represents the only FREE part of Macedonia, we all should support it. I did not have the opportunity to vote for the first flag either, which by the way also represented the current state of Macedonia.

Poet how old are you, you clearly need to read more on the current situation we are in.

No one could vote for the current ventilator, this flag represents our occupation of ourselves. It is a greek and western imposed flag supported by our politicians DPMNE and SDSM.

The true Makedonsko sonce can not be voted on because that has been our symbol since Macedonia first existed, just like the lion and the two headed Orthodox eagle and Cross.

The government changed the flag due to the acronym FYROM by our government to appease the greek we could not have the lion as our secondary symbol on flag or coat of arms as Soros together with the Bulgarians were against that.

Remember if you wont to get technical forget the J and the IA as they have been added to many countries and can be seen as a Westernization.
